Growing up, I was always an avid book lover and I decided share my love of books with my community. In my cadet years of Girl Scouting, I made a Little Free Lending Library. Living in a busy tourist area with a bunch of lakes, I decided a boat design was the only option. I found the book case off of a marketplace, and I asked a local woodworking company to help with putting the door on. I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to put a door on a boat frame, but it is not exactly easy!
After everything came back, I sanded, painted, and installed the lending library. I did everything myself, other than some assistance with graphic design and installation. Over the last 4 years I have kept up with exchanging books for various holidays and seasons. Unfortunately, we live in an area with extreme weather conditions of heat, cold, and snow, so I will have to repaint the boat next spring to stay ahead of any problems. The local community is very inclusive about taking books and putting new books back in.
This is my current proudest accomplishment and I’m very happy I did it.
